Murdick's Fudge makes sweet memories

For nearly a half a century, Murdick’s Fudge of Martha’s Vineyard has meant more than just sweet, handcrafted fudge. It’s the taste of childhood summers, the centerpiece of weddings, the treat that brings families together, and the memory that lingers long after a trip to the Island.

Here’s a large slice of Murdick’s Fudge memories from customers from Boston to California, Cape Cod to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Each story reminds us that our fudge isn’t just candy—it’s a connection to Martha’s Vineyard itself.

Family Traditions & Summer Memories

For many, Murdick’s isn’t just fudge — it’s the taste of summer on Martha’s Vineyard. From childhood trips to annual family traditions, these stories show how our fudge has become part of treasured memories passed down through generations.

Erika, Boston, MA

“I remember watching the fudge being made through the window as a kid. And now? My mother and I hold close ties to it because we always make sure to pick up a bag of it (plus some caramel corn!) after each and every island trip that we take. No trip is complete without it! Unfortunately, in 2022 she became homeless (she’s under my care now, and living with me as well) and we haven’t been able to go to the island in many years since. Missing the iconic taste and experience that Murdick’s provides. Yes, we can order it online but nothing beats picking up a fresh batch in person. We have, on several past Christmases ago bought it online due to how much we miss it, but only for a special holiday (if we couldn’t wait to make it to the island which, as I’ve stated, sadly has been years).”

Jenny, Jackson Hole, WY

“When our children were born, we spent every summer for 15 years on MV, the first place I’d visit when I got on island was Murdick’s for a trio box of chocolate: chocolate peanut butter, vanilla and double chocolate. We moved away from the east coast to WY and sold our vineyard house. I miss the walks though Edgartown, watching the fudge being made and grabbing a box! I can taste it as I write this!”

Lesli, Massachusetts

“My grandmother brought me and my family every year to Oaks Bluff when I was a little girl. We stayed at the Wesley House and walked up and down Circuit Avenue and discovered your delicious fudge shop. I used to love stopping by and looking in the window watching the fudge being made. When you first walked through that door it smelled so heavenly delicious. I will always remember and cherish those wonderful memories. Thank you.”

Jen, North Bergen, NJ (Massachusetts native!)

“After dinner, my parents would take us to downtown Edgartown every night and we would watch them making the fudge at Murdick’s, and we would buy some to have as a snack at the beach the next day. To this day, I always want to have your fudge as a treat at the beach. Things don’t seem right without it! Thanks for a lifetime of such amazing memories. ❤️”

Dan, Needham, MA

“I first discovered Murdick’s on my very first trip to Martha’s Vineyard as a child. My parents took us into the store, and I was instantly mesmerized — watching the fudge being cooked, folded, and sliced right in front of us felt like magic. I’ve been hooked ever since.”

Life’s Celebrations

Weddings, milestones, and once-in-a-lifetime events deserve something as special as Murdick’s. These customers chose our fudge to mark the sweetest moments in their lives — and share the joy with those they love.

Jenny, Jackson Hole, WY

“I put a piece of Murdick’s fudge in each welcome bag for our wedding guests. We were married by John Alley, at the Harbor View on October 26, 2002.”

Jane, Mashpee, MA

“For our daughter Jennifer’s wedding, held on Cape Cod in July, 2010, she only wanted Murdick’s Fudge as her guest thank you gifts. Thank you, Murdick’s! After ordering the fudge, we, as boaters, were able to travel from Mashpee on Cape Cod to Edgartown to pick up the many pounds of fudge happily. (All of our guests were thrilled and we noticed several taking more than one with glee!)”

Everyday Joys & Special Treats

Sometimes the best memories are the simple ones: a favorite flavor, a sweet indulgence after dinner, or a box shared with family. These stories celebrate the everyday joy of savoring a piece of Murdick’s.

Bonnie, TN

“Your chocolate fudge tastes just like the chocolate fudge my aunt used to make. We are decades long chocolaholics! We enjoy this fudge for any occasion. My brother swears the only reason he's recovering from his surgery is because he has a box of fudge to help him! Not only is it a part of anything that goes on today but also always reminds us of the days we stood around my aunt & watch her make the fudge.”

Kathleen R, Grayslake, IL

“I live in Grayslake IL and I come out twice a year. to visit my sister. Once in the summer and once in the winter. I tell my sister I have to get the Murdick's Fudge to take home. My favorite is chocolate caramel sea salt. I have to try the butterscotch that sounds so good. My husband loves the peanut butter, so creamy. One year I brought that home and a few days go by and I am looking for the peanut butter to eat and guess what? My husband thought it was for him and ate it all lol. That's okay I can get more when I come back our or order online. I love your fudge.”

Linda, Lancaster, PA

“My children and grandchildren and I LOVE your fudge.”

Nancy, New Bedford, MA

“Can never get enough, make the trip at least 4 times a year.”

Sherry, Blue Bell, PA

“It was the best fudge that I ever tasted.”

Journeys & Homecomings

Whether it’s the first stop on the island, a well-traveled box brought home across the country, or a treat savored after a long trip, Murdick’s has a way of turning every journey into something sweeter.

Cliff, Manhattan Beach, CA

“There's something about diving into a box of Murdock's peanut brittle once we arrive home from Martha's Vineyard. Our trip takes all day, from MV to Woods Hole, to Logan, and then LA. We unpack, and before sorting two weeks of mail, we pick out a piece of well-traveled peanut brittle to remind us of our stay on the island. It's the best!”

Eileen, Manchester, NH

“Just yesterday I had to drive from Manchester, NH to Woods Hole to pick up my 13 year old granddaughter who had been visiting friends on Martha's Vineyard. As I had never driven to Woods Hole before, I was anxious about hitting traffic or going to the wrong spot and therefore left giving myself plenty of time. Luckily I arrived without incident and found myself sitting in the pickup parking lot 2 1/2 hours before her ferry would arrive! I was unsure of the protocol for sitting there as the sign said 10 minutes. I was afraid to leave the parking lot, so I decided to just sit in my car and wait. It was probably 85 degrees out, but I didn't mind people watching from my car. Finally, my granddaughter arrived and as she got in the car, she proudly pulled out a Murdick's Fudge bag, opened the box, and sliced me off a piece of your most delicious melt in your mouth fudge! That fudge made my wait so worth it! Delicious!”

Dan, Needham, MA

“Back when I was a teenager, I took one of my close friends on a trip to Martha’s Vineyard. As soon as we arrived, he said, ‘I want fudge’. I told him, ‘We have to go to Murdick’s. It’s the best.’ As we wandered around town, he spotted fudge at another shop and, despite my protest, bought some. ‘Fudge is fudge,’ he shrugged. Later, we stopped at Murdick’s. I got my fudge, and we headed to the Tisbury town dock for a taste test. He opened his first, tried a piece, and offered me some. I politely declined. Then I opened mine and handed him a piece of Murdick’s. He took one bite, paused, looked at me in silence, and said:
"Can we go back to Murdick’s… please?"

Mini, Atlanta, GA

“The sea salt caramel melts in your mouth decadently and it reminds me of my beach trip because it also washes away all your worries in a delicious way.”
